We see Special Agent Cassidy for the first time in this episode. DiNozzo spills Gibbs' coffee. Todd apparently sleeps in a Trojan Basketball jersey! (and DiNozzo in the nude) Gibbs makes a reference to the character Shane and DiNozzo doen't know who he is. The bartender talks about the Maltese Falcon and DiNozzo is unfamilar with the movie. This seems to conflict with DiNozzo being a major film buff later in the series.

The first episode. Gibbs and DiNozzo meet Todd for the first time. Alexander is given second billing behind Harmon. Harmon, Alexander, Weatherly and Mc Callum are the only actors given title credits. We first see Todd protecting the president on Air Force One. It is one of the rare times when an actual living person is mentioned or seen in the series. We see stock footage of President Bush, as well as an actor portraying him. We first see Gibbs working on his boat in his basement. We first see DiNozzo in the squad room, Ducky on Air Force One and Abby in her lab. The mysterious red-haired lady picks Gibbs up at the end. No one makes a big deal about it, but Gibbs is shown with his cup of coffee (going through screening in airport) early (and often) in the episode. There is a cup of Caf Pow in the background of Abby's lab, but no one gives any to Abby, and she doesn't drink any. There are no head slaps.

The first appearance of the NCIS team. The first scene we see Gibbs in, he is drinking coffee. We see a Special Agent Blackadder who doesn't make it into the series, and Ducky flirts with her. Ducky doesn't have his hat on out in the field, but he is wearing his bow tie. The outside shot and squad room for NCIS are the same as the series. The outside of MTAC looks different. Ducky is much more aggressive. We first see Abby drinking Caf Pow.
